The great fire of 1864 is part of Brisbane’s forgotten history. Join Duncan Richardson to explore stories and images from this dramatic event that changed the face of the city and forms the basis of his children’s novel “Jason Chen and the Time Banana”. The presentation also touches on a cyclone, a flood, an out-break of typhoid and other major fires in the city all in the same year. Useful research tools for historical writing will also be discussed.
